Unlike a traditional coat or jacket, an Anorak is a designed to be a heavy weatherproof jacket which usually has a hood or / and a windshield. In the UK some may call it a Cagoule - but we find it a bit uncool ;) Raincoat is another word we often see which seems to be a sort of umbrella term for a typically lighter coat or jacket designed to just protect against rain.
